Banned Breeds Boarding Policy.

 

Breeds that come under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991

  • Pitbull Terrier

  • Japanese Tosa

  • Dogo Argentino

  • Fila Brasileiro

  • XL Bully from (from 31 December 2023)

 

Under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, Usk Boarding Kennels & Cattery have a duty to abide by the laws set out by Monmouthshire council and the UK government.

Owners will have to adhere by our policy for your dog to be boarded at this facility.

Muzzles and leads.

  • Must wear a muzzle and be kept on a lead when in a public place.

Neutering

  • Your dog will be neutered.

  • Proof will need to be provided before being allowed to board (Ask your vets for proof)

Microchipped

  • All dogs will be microchipped with the owner’s details on it (These details should correspond with your details on our system)

Certificate of Exemption

  • A Certificate of Exemption will need to be shown to the receptionist on arrival. (Without this your dog will not be allowed to board at the kennels)

 

Insurance

  • Your dog will need to be insured and proof of insurance documents will need to be shown on arrival.

Banned breeds.

  • Under the new laws the breeds under this law will not be allowed to take part in any social activities while boarding at the kennels.

 

We have always welcomed any breed of dogs at this facility and we will continue to do so in the future but as this law stands we need to ensure that all members of staff and visitors to our kennels stay safe at all times.
